“Oh, you hate your job? Why didn’t you say so?
There’s a support group for that. It’s called EVERYBODY, and they meet at the bar.”
~ Drew Carey
The urban cool Iris is located on the 27th floor of the Oberoi. Its floor to ceiling windows provide a cityscape background, whilst drinking one of their many signature cocktails at their chic rectangular bar.
The beverages menu is most definitely the most comprehensive in the city, with over 60 cocktails to pick from. Whether your favorite drink is a Bloody Mary, Margarita, Bellini, Sangria, Martini, Singapore sling… the list goes on and on, you name it they make it. They also offer bottled beer, wine, and shots. I kick off with a bloody mary, move to the gin based Gentlemen’s Agreement, and finally settle on the tequila based Power of the Tea (my favorite tequila cocktail in town).
The food is a combination of a buffet and cooking stations: salad station (burrata, watermelon & halloumi, quinoa salad), sushi and maki rolls, ceviche station, Bbq mini burgers/shrimps/chicken skewers, Italian station (Risotto, Pasta, Pizza), shawarma station. The dishes are made from high quality fresh ingredients and are well executed. I slowly work my way through the stations as the brunch progresses. The sushi is tasty, the burgers juicy, and the customized pasta is delightful.
Entertainment involves both a DJ and live music. The mood is laid back, with the crowd is far from rowdy. Service is both attentive and efficient. This is impressive taking into account that the bar actually makes drinks here, and is not simply pouring a spirit & mixer as the lazy bars in the city tend to favor.
IRIS brunch is a cocktail lover’s dream come true, just make sure you come thirsty.
